A tragic accident occurred on the Pune-Solapur highway early Sunday morning, claiming the life of a motorcycle rider and injuring two others. The collision took place around 12:30 a.m. at Shewalwadi, involving two motorcycles that crashed head-on.

Victim Identified as Food Delivery Agent

The deceased has been identified as Navnath Maynale, 31, who worked as a food delivery agent. According to Assistant Inspector Umesh Rokade of the Manjari police, the other motorcycle was being ridden by a vegetable vendor, who along with his pillion rider, sustained critical injuries. Both are currently admitted to a private hospital.

Police Suspect Minor Involved

Assistant Inspector Rokade stated, "We suspect that the vegetable vendor is a minor and was riding a bike belonging to his parents. We have called for documents to verify his age." This adds a layer of concern regarding underage driving and parental responsibility.

Details of the Collision

Police reports indicate that Maynale was traveling from the Manjari area towards Loni Kalbhor, while the youngsters were heading from Manjari towards the Solapur highway when the two vehicles collided head-on. Preliminary investigations suggest that the youngsters had crossed to the other side of the road through a gap in the road divider, leading to the fatal crash.

The incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of adhering to traffic rules. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and ensure accountability.
