Motorcycle thieves exploit power cuts in Chennai areas

Chennai: Recurring night-time power cuts in Poonamallee, Kattupakkam, and surrounding areas have created an opportunity for motorcycle thieves, who are stealing parked bikes under the cover of darkness. One victim, Sarath Kumar from Ayyappanthangal, discovered his high-end motorcycle missing from outside his residence. Upon reviewing CCTV footage, he observed unidentified men riding through the streets, scouting houses where motorcycles were parked. The footage revealed that the suspects returned during a power outage and fled with the parked motorcycle.

Similar Incidents Reported

Similar thefts have been reported from other localities in the region, raising fear among residents. The pattern indicates that the thieves are exploiting the frequent power cuts to carry out their crimes undetected.

Police Investigation Underway

Based on the CCTV footage, Poonamallee police have registered a case and are investigating to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the thefts. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
