Tragic Road Accident Claims Life of Motorcyclist in Kundapur
A devastating road accident resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Saturday morning near Gulwadi village on the outskirts of Kundapur. The incident occurred when the victim's bike collided with a private bus under tragic circumstances.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to the complaint filed by bus driver Sampath K Shetty, a resident of Shivamogga district, he was operating a private bus traveling from Bengaluru to Kundapur with passengers onboard. The accident took place around 8:12 am as the bus was proceeding toward Kundapur via the Kollur route on the Neralakatte–Tallur road.
Police reports indicate that when the bus reached the vicinity of the Indian Oil petrol pump at Shetrakatte in Gulwadi village, a motorcycle ridden by Vijay approached from the opposite direction at a curve. Chilling CCTV footage of the incident reveals the helmet-less biker attempting to overtake another bus at high speed on what is described as a blind curve.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Crash
During this dangerous maneuver, the motorcyclist allegedly veered toward the extreme right side of the road in what authorities are calling a rash and negligent manner. Recognizing the imminent danger, the bus driver swerved left and took his vehicle onto the mud shoulder in a desperate attempt to avoid a collision.
Despite these evasive actions, the motorcycle crashed into the bus, violently throwing Vijay onto the road. The impact caused critical head injuries, leaving him unable to speak after the accident. The bus driver and local residents immediately rushed to provide assistance and transported him to a hospital in Kundapur, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation
Kundapur traffic police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have confirmed that further investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident is currently underway.
