Bhopal: A 20-year-old woman was gangraped, assaulted, and compelled to transfer Rs 40,000 through UPI by two men who were employed as painters at her residence in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh.
Incident Details
The survivor was alone at home when the incident occurred, as her family members had stepped out for work. Taking advantage of her solitude, the accused—identified as Anup Saket and Rakesh Saket, both aged around 21—first beat her and forced her to transfer Rs 40,000 using UPI. Subsequently, they took turns gangraping her. The assault took place on Thursday. Fearing for her safety, the survivor waited until late evening for her parents to return before narrating the ordeal.
Police Action
Her family rushed her to Jamodi police station, where a case was registered based on her complaint. A manhunt was launched, leading to the arrest of both accused on Friday. Jamodi police station incharge Divya Prakash Tripathi informed TOI, “One of the accused, Anup, was on one-day police remand and was sent to judicial remand on Saturday, while the other, Rakesh, is in police remand until June 16 as further investigation is ongoing.”
Tripathi added, “The accused not only extorted money and gangraped her but also beat her. She sustained head injuries and required stitches.”
