MP Patwari Arrested for Rs 10,000 Bribe in Dhar

A patwari posted in Manawar tehsil of Dhar district was arrested by Lokayukta police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for carrying out a land mutation, officials said on Monday.

Details of the Arrest

The patwari, identified as Praveen Patidar, was posted in the Beedpura revenue circle. He was trapped at the tehsil office while accepting the first installment of the bribe from the complainant. Lokayukta inspector Sachin Pateriya stated that a property dealer from Manawar, 66-year-old Arun Kumar Tiwari, approached Patidar for mutation of two plots he sold in Kasthali panchayat to an associate.

Demand and Complaint

During the process, the patwari allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 per plot to complete the work. Following the demand, Tiwari lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police in Indore. After verifying the complaint, a team laid a trap at Manawar tehsil office on Monday morning. The team caught the patwari red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 as the first installment of the bribe.

Legal Action

A case was registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation was underway, officials said. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts to curb corruption in government offices.
