Muktsar Police Arrest Two in Pakistan-Linked Espionage Network
In a significant development, the Muktsar district police have apprehended two individuals allegedly involved in a spying network with connections to Pakistan. The arrests were made on Monday, with the accused identified as Akashdeep Singh alias Mintu from Mahabaddar village and Balraj Singh from Chibbranwali village in Muktsar.
Details of the Arrest and Charges
According to Muktsar SSP Abhimanyu Rana, a police patrol team received a tip-off, leading to the arrest of the duo from the Bathinda bypass area. A case has been registered against them under Section 152 of the BNS, which pertains to endangering sovereignty, unity, and integrity, as well as Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923. The police noted that an accomplice, Pritpal Singh, is already in custody in another case and is currently lodged in Muktsar Jail.
Investigation Findings and Anti-National Activities
Initial investigations revealed that the accused had been in contact with individuals using Pakistani WhatsApp numbers for an extended period. They were engaged in anti-national activities, including passing secret information to Pakistan agents. Additionally, it was discovered that they had prepared pictures and video clips during the SwaRaksha Mahotsav in Visakhapatnam in September 2025 and were collecting other confidential data to be transmitted further.
The police have emphasized that further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the network and its operations. This arrest highlights ongoing concerns about espionage activities in the region and the vigilance of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding national security.
