Mumbai ANC Intercepts Nigerian National with Drugs Worth Rs 2.21 Crore in Khar
In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a Nigerian national after seizing a substantial quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of Rs 2.21 crore. The operation unfolded in the upscale Khar-Bandra area, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the city.
Late-Night Interception Leads to Major Drug Bust
The incident occurred on the evening of April 16, around 11:15 pm, when ANC officials were conducting routine patrols along Sherly Rajan Road in Bandra. During their surveillance, they spotted a suspicious individual who attempted to evade the police vehicle upon noticing their presence. This prompted the officers to immediately stop and question him, leading to a crucial discovery.
The accused, identified as Eze Njoku, a 39-year-old Nigerian national, was found carrying a pouch that contained illicit substances. As a crowd of onlookers gathered at the scene, ANC officials disclosed their identity and proceeded with a thorough inspection. The search revealed a cache of drugs, including 45 Ecstasy pills weighing 24 grams, valued at approximately Rs 7.2 lakh, and 213 grams of cocaine, with an estimated worth of Rs 2.14 crore.

Eze Njoku, who resides in Nala Sopara, was found to possess a valid Indian visa that is set to expire in August 2026. During the interrogation, he disclosed personal information, including that he had suffered a leg injury in a railway accident back in 2019. The Khar Police have since filed an FIR against him under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, marking a formal step in the legal process.
