The Mumbai Crime Branch's Cell-6 unit has successfully apprehended three absconding individuals from West Bengal, who were allegedly implicated in multiple serious offenses. These include criminal conspiracy, use of explosives, and violations under the Arms Act, as registered at the Shibpur Police Station. The accused had been evading arrest since a case was filed on May 7 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act.
Operation Details
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch traced the accused to a rented accommodation in Deonar. Through a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the team successfully apprehended Shamim Ahmed Abdul Rashid (40), Jamil Akhtar Ali (43), and Aftab Anwar Khurshid Anwar (44). During police interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to their involvement in the offenses.
Additional Cases
Police sources revealed that the trio was also wanted in five other cases registered at the Shibpur Police Station. A team from Howrah Police has since arrived in Mumbai and taken custody of the accused for further investigation.
