Mumbai De-Addiction Centre Director and Wife Booked for Alleged Rape of Minor Patient

The Malwani police in Mumbai have taken serious action against a privately operated de-addiction centre following disturbing allegations of sexual assault involving a minor girl. A case has been officially registered against the institution's director, his wife, and two additional individuals after a 15-year-old girl came forward with accusations of repeated rape and subsequent forced abortion during her stay at the facility in 2024.

Details of the Alleged Assault and Police Investigation

According to the police complaint, the victim was approximately 15 years old when her family admitted her to the de-addiction centre in January 2024 for treatment. During her several-month stay at the institution, she alleges that the director sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. The complaint further states that another young friend of the victim also endured similar traumatic experiences, while two other male accused individuals reportedly molested the girls regularly.

When the victim attempted to seek help by reporting the incidents to the director's wife, who co-managed the centre, she allegedly received no support or intervention. The situation escalated when the victim discovered she was pregnant as a result of the repeated sexual assaults. She claims the accused forced her to terminate the pregnancy by administering an abortion pill against her will.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

After enduring significant physical and psychological trauma, the victim eventually confided in her parents, who subsequently approached the Malwani police station to file a formal complaint. Police authorities have confirmed that one of the accused has already been arrested in connection with the case.

Investigating officers have revealed that there is likely at least one additional victim, and they are actively working to trace and identify this individual. The Malwani police are conducting a thorough investigation into the operations of the de-addiction centre and the specific allegations made by the minor complainant.

This case has raised serious concerns about the safety protocols and oversight mechanisms in private rehabilitation facilities, particularly those catering to vulnerable populations such as minors seeking addiction treatment. The police are examining whether there were systemic failures that allowed such alleged abuses to occur repeatedly over an extended period.
