Mumbai: The Malad Police have registered an First Information Report (FIR) against seven individuals following a complaint lodged by a homemaker, who alleged that they were claiming to cure illnesses through miraculous means. The FIR has been filed under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
Details of the Complaint
According to the complaint, a group of women visited the complainant's residence on May 8. The complainant informed them that she was suffering from hypothyroidism and hypertension. In response, the women urged her to attend an event scheduled for May 10, assuring her that participating in prayers there would help her recover from her ailments.
Incident on May 10
On the day of the event, the complainant sent her son to the venue. Upon arrival, he observed a gathering of people who were allegedly claiming to cure various illnesses through miraculous interventions. Attempting to document the proceedings, he tried to film the event but was unsuccessful. Subsequently, he dialed the police emergency number '100' to report the incident.
Legal Action Taken
Based on the complaint and the information provided by the son, the Malad Police have initiated legal proceedings against seven individuals. The case has been registered under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013, which specifically targets such fraudulent and harmful practices.
The police are conducting further investigations into the matter. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any similar instances of individuals or groups claiming supernatural cures or engaging in deceptive practices that exploit vulnerable people.
