MUMBAI: Amboli Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) for kidnapping and grievous assault against a young man identified as Vijay, who is currently absconding. The case involves a 16-year-old girl who was brutally attacked and has been hospitalized with severe injuries.
Victim's Background and Relationship
The minor girl, who lost her parents at a young age, was living with her aunt, uncle, and cousins in Jogeshwari. She informed her family that she was in a relationship with Vijay. In November 2025, Vijay took her to Surat without the consent of her guardians. Two days later, the girl contacted her aunt, disclosing her whereabouts and mentioning that she had borrowed the aunt's earrings, promising to return them upon her return to Mumbai.
Return to Mumbai and Continued Abuse
The aunt next met the victim in April 2026 when the girl visited her, stating that Vijay had brought her back to Mumbai and they were cohabiting. However, due to disapproval from Vijay's family, the couple had no stable residence. The victim further revealed that Vijay frequently harassed and assaulted her, suspecting her fidelity.
Brutal Assault and Hospitalization
On June 10, the aunt received a call from the police, informing her that the victim had been admitted to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari. The girl had sustained a jaw injury and could not speak properly. She whispered to her aunt that Vijay had attacked her with a stone.
Investigations revealed that on June 8, Vijay had brutally assaulted the victim at Mhatarpada in Amboli, striking her face, forehead, and lips with a stone, in addition to kicking and punching her repeatedly. The aunt subsequently filed a complaint with Amboli Police, leading to the registration of the FIR against Vijay. The police are now searching for the accused.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of minors in abusive relationships and the importance of timely intervention by law enforcement and family members. The victim remains hospitalized, and her recovery is expected to take time due to the severity of her injuries.
