Mumbai Police Unravel Bizarre Lokhandwala Bullet Mystery, Arrest Actor Kamaal R Khan
In a remarkable display of investigative prowess, the Mumbai police have successfully solved the perplexing case of bullets discovered in two separate flats in the upscale Lokhandwala neighborhood, culminating in the arrest of actor Kamaal R Khan, widely known as KRK. The case began on January 18, 2026, when residents of Nalanda building in Andheri (West) reported hearing a sound resembling gunfire. Writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra, residing on the second floor, and model Prateek Baid, on the fourth floor, later found what appeared to be bullets inside their homes. Promptly, the Oshiwara police registered an offence under the Arms Act, launching a detailed investigation into the unsettling occurrence.
Initially, the police cautiously referred to the objects as 'projectiles' pending forensic analysis, given the open-ended nature of the case. However, subsequent confirmation revealed that these were indeed bullets, albeit of a low calibre, suggesting they were relatively less lethal. This finding sharpened the focus of the investigation, as authorities sought to trace the origin of the shots.
Investigative Breakthrough and Forensic Analysis
The police employed a strategic approach, analyzing the trajectory and possible firing locations based on where the bullets landed. Forensic experts played a crucial role in this phase, assisting the team in narrowing down potential sources. A key insight came from the area's layout: adjacent to Nalanda building lies a stretch of mangroves, followed by an open ground, and next to that, a bungalow where Kamaal R Khan resides.
Simultaneously, another police team cross-referenced registered weapon owners in the vicinity, searching for firearms matching the calibre of the recovered bullets. This led them to discover that Khan had registered his firearm at the Oshiwara police station. "Given the fact that his house was in the range from where the bullets could have been fired and he owned a firearm that had a similar calibre, we suspected his involvement," explained an officer involved in the case.
Interrogation and Confession
Based on this compelling evidence, Khan was brought in for questioning at the Oshiwara police station on Friday. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the incident, stating that he was testing his licensed gun near a window when the bullets were unintentionally discharged. The police have since seized the firearm and are verifying whether Khan possesses all necessary documentation for it.
Khan is now set to be produced before a court, where the police will seek his custody for further legal proceedings.
