A young man was brutally gunned down in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Tuesday evening, sending shockwaves through his village. The victim, identified as Arjun Kumar, aged 21, was ambushed and shot near a school while returning home from work.

Ambush After Work: The Fatal Attack

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Aurai police station. According to police officials, Arjun, a resident of Baliya village, was on his motorcycle after finishing his shift at a mobile phone shop in the Aurai market. As he reached the vicinity of the middle school in his own Baliya village, unidentified assailants who were lying in wait opened fire. A bullet struck him in the chest, causing fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the spot.

Family's Anguish and Allegations

Upon receiving the tragic news, Arjun's distraught family members rushed to the scene. They transported his body to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur, where doctors formally declared him brought dead. Arjun was the eldest among three siblings, having two brothers and one sister. His father lives in Mumbai, where he runs a business selling mobile phone accessories.

Speaking to the authorities, the victim's mother, Rita Devi, made a serious allegation. She claimed that about a month prior to the shooting, Arjun had been involved in a clash with their neighbours over an unspecified issue. She stated that the neighbours had subsequently threatened to kill him, pointing a finger of suspicion in their direction.

Police Investigation: Multiple Angles Probed

Law enforcement has initiated a comprehensive investigation. Aurai Station House Officer (SHO) Raja Singh confirmed that forensic teams had collected crucial evidence from the crime scene. An FIR has been registered based on the statements provided by the deceased's family, naming some neighbours as accused.

"It appears Arjun was shot dead during a loot attempt or due to personal enmity," SHO Raja Singh stated. He further elaborated that the police are exploring all possible motives, including personal enmity, an attempted robbery, and even a potential love affair. Investigators are questioning family members and others to piece together the sequence of events and establish a clear motive for the cold-blooded murder.

The case has highlighted concerns over law and order in the region, as the family awaits justice for the untimely death of their young son.
