Muzaffarpur Rape Case: Main Accused Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances
In a shocking development in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, the primary accused in the rape of a 12-year-old girl has died under suspicious circumstances before police could arrest him on Sunday. Authorities reported that his family allegedly cremated the body without notifying the police, raising serious questions about the incident.
Details of the Heinous Crime
The horrific incident unfolded on April 9, when the young girl was allegedly lured away by two women known to her family. She was taken to a rented house, where she was raped by a 28-year-old neighbor, identified as the main accused. To keep her silent, she was reportedly given medication. When her condition deteriorated, those involved fled the scene. The girl was later discovered and rushed to a hospital, where she remains under medical treatment.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Following the girl's mother filing a complaint on April 10, police swiftly acted, arresting three women in connection with the case. City SP Mohibullah Ansari stated that after examining CCTV footage from around the crime scene, authorities identified the accused. However, upon reaching his residence after verifying details, police found he had already died. His family members had conducted the cremation without informing law enforcement.
SHO Pankaj Kumar identified the arrested women as Komal, Sudha, and Gudiya, noting that the crime occurred at Komal's house. Initial investigations suggest all three are linked to a large prostitution racket, with police actively probing their network.
Suspicious Death and Ongoing Probe
The circumstances surrounding the accused's death remain murky. SP Ansari added that the investigation is focusing on whether the death resulted from a heart attack or suicide. Police visited the cremation ground but found only ashes, complicating forensic analysis. This unexpected turn has added layers of complexity to the case, as authorities work to uncover the truth behind both the rape and the suspicious death.
