In a shocking incident that has rattled the local community, a trader dealing in stone chips and sand was brutally shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants in Muzaffarpur district on Monday. The victim, identified as Prabhakar Singh (42), was ambushed while riding his motorcycle on Bazar Samiti Road under the jurisdiction of the Ahiyapur police station.
Details of the Fatal Attack
According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, Prabhakar Singh was traveling from the Ahiyapur Chowk side towards Bada Jagannath when the attackers overtook his bike near the Hanuman Mandir at Bada Jagannath Chowk. The assailants, riding a motorcycle, fired approximately three rounds at close range, striking Prabhakar in the back and chest. The force of the gunshots caused him to lose control, and he fell onto the road along with his motorcycle near the temple premises.
Local residents who witnessed the incident immediately rushed to his aid and transported him to a hospital located in Bairiya. Despite their efforts, doctors at the medical facility declared him dead upon arrival, confirming the severity of his injuries.

He had been actively involved in the stone chips and sand business for a considerable period, establishing himself as a well-known figure in the local trade community.
In addition to his primary business, Prabhakar also owned a shop at Gerua Chowk and was engaged in property dealings, indicating his diversified entrepreneurial activities. His sudden and violent death has left the business community in a state of shock and fear.

Upon receiving information about the murder, senior police officials, including Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra, City SP Mohibullah Ansari, and Town SDPO-II Vinita Sinha, swiftly reached the crime scene. SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra addressed the media, stating, "A special investigation team has been formed under Town SDPO-II to probe the case. Prima facie it appears that Prabhakar was shot more than twice."
The police have recovered three empty shells from the spot, which are being analyzed for forensic evidence.
