Mysuru Police Crack Down on Drug Network with Major MDMA Seizure
In a significant breakthrough in an ongoing Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case, the Mysuru City Police have made a crucial arrest, apprehending a key suspect and confiscating a substantial quantity of MDMA with an estimated street value of Rs 4 lakh. The operation underscores the department's intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Arrest and Seizure Details
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammed Roshan, aged 22, a resident with a known criminal history. Acting on specific intelligence, police personnel apprehended Roshan near the Ghousia Mosque located in the Ghousianagar area of Mysuru. During the arrest, authorities recovered approximately 41.3 grams of MDMA from his possession. Following standard legal procedures, Roshan was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Background and Modus Operandi
Investigations revealed that Roshan is not a first-time offender. Police records indicate that an NDPS case was already registered against him at the Udayagiri police station earlier in 2024. The current probe, spearheaded by the Mandi police station, uncovered that Roshan was allegedly sourcing the illicit MDMA from an unidentified supplier in Bengaluru. He reportedly utilized photo-sharing features on popular social media platforms to coordinate the procurement. Once obtained, he would then distribute and sell the narcotics within Mysuru, contributing to the local drug trade.
Broader Investigation Context
This arrest is part of a larger investigative effort. Previously, the Mandi police had arrested two other individuals in connection with the same NDPS case: Mohammad Karim and Nishad Pasha. From them, police seized a smaller quantity of 3.1 grams of MDMA. The tip-off and subsequent investigation that led to these initial arrests eventually provided the crucial leads that enabled authorities to track down and apprehend Roshan, suggesting a more organized network.
