Major Drug Bust in Mysuru: Rs 12 Crore Synthetic Narcotics Seized from Farmhouse
In a significant enforcement action, the Mysuru district police have confiscated approximately 48 kilograms of synthetic drugs valued at a staggering Rs 12 crore. The operation targeted a farmhouse situated between Ratnapuri and Dasanapura in the Hunsur taluk of the district, marking a critical blow to illicit drug activities in the region.
Police Raid Leads to Arrests and Seizure
Acting on actionable intelligence, the Hunsur Rural police conducted a raid on a makeshift camp near Dasanapura village late on Friday evening. This location was allegedly being used for processing and packaging large quantities of synthetic narcotics. During the operation, police apprehended two individuals: Mohammad Irfan, aged 30, from Siddique Mohalla in Mysuru city, and Mohammad Irfan, aged 42, from Rehmath Mohalla in Hunsur town, who is the owner of the land where the shed was constructed.
Mysuru Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi confirmed the seizure, stating that the confiscated substances include about 7.35 kg of Mephedrone and 41 kg of drug precursor chemicals, totaling 48 kg. A formal case has been registered at the Hunsur Rural police station to further investigate the matter.
Chase and Escape During Operation
Sources indicate that the accused attempted to flee as the raid commenced, prompting police to engage in a pursuit that spanned nearly 10 kilometers before capturing them near Hunsur town. However, several other individuals managed to escape from the scene, and authorities are actively conducting search operations to locate these absconding suspects.
Preliminary investigations suggest that at least six people were involved in this illegal operation. Police are also exploring a possible connection to Mumbai as part of the broader drug network, highlighting the interstate dimensions of the case. The breakthrough came after questioning a drug user, which provided crucial leads that enabled the raid.

In response to this incident, Chief Minister CM Siddaramaiah and Mysuru district minister HC Mahadevappa have reiterated the government's firm commitment to combating drug-related crimes.
