MYSURU: At least two people were killed and four others injured after a fire broke out at a restaurant in Dattagalli, south Mysuru on Monday afternoon. The blaze reportedly followed a short circuit in decorative LED lighting.
Victims and Injured
Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar confirmed that the two deceased were cooks working at the restaurant. Both were residents of northern regions, one from West Bengal and the other from Nepal. The injured include the restaurant owner and manager, police said.
Incident Details
The fire broke out on the second floor of a building housing the restaurant, Mara, located within the Kuvempunagar police station limits. According to police, the incident occurred at around 3 pm when staff members Sahil, from Darjeeling in West Bengal, and Prakash, a Nepalese national, were preparing for the evening service in the kitchen. The alleged short circuit triggered a fire that quickly spread through the cooking area, leaving little time for those inside to escape.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control. Police said an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials are also assessing the extent of damage caused to the property and nearby establishments.
