The second quarter National Lok Adalat held across Nagaland witnessed the disposal of 220 cases out of a total of 402 cases taken up, according to an official statement released on Monday. The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority organized the event, setting up 11 benches in district headquarters under the district legal services authorities.
Case Disposal and Success Rate
The success rate of case disposal in the National Lok Adalat in Nagaland stands at approximately 54 percent. The cases addressed included those at the pre-litigation stage, such as bank recovery, loan recovery, and telephone bill disputes. At the pending stage, the Lok Adalat handled criminal compoundable offences, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases, and other civil matters.
Benches and Jurisdictions
The 11 benches were strategically placed in district headquarters to ensure wide coverage across the state. This initiative aimed to provide speedy and amicable resolution of disputes, reducing the burden on regular courts.
The statement highlighted the collaborative effort of the district legal services authorities in making the event a success. The National Lok Adalat is a key component of the legal system in India, promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
