Nagaur Police Conduct Major Anti-Drug Operation, Seize Hundreds of Opium Plants
In a significant crackdown on narcotics cultivation, Nagaur police seized 600 opium poppy plants from Akla village in the Khimsar block on Sunday. The operation resulted in the arrest of the field owner, identified as Trilokram Jat, who now faces serious charges under drug prevention laws.
Detailed Raid Uncovers Hidden Cultivation
Acting on a specific tip-off received during an ongoing anti-drug drive supervised by Superintendent of Police Roshan Meena, a specialized police team conducted a targeted raid on the suspect's property. During the meticulous search, officers discovered a sophisticated cultivation setup with plants strategically hidden to avoid detection.
Police investigators revealed that Trilokram Jat had grown some of the illicit plants on the roof of his house, which is situated within the agricultural field itself. The remaining plants were cleverly concealed between standing crops in the field, demonstrating deliberate attempts to camouflage the illegal activity from aerial surveillance and casual observation.
Substantial Haul of Narcotic Plants
The raid yielded a substantial quantity of narcotic material, including 150 harvested opium plants ready for processing and an additional 450 flowering plants that were still in the growth phase. All 600 plants were immediately seized as evidence and the accused was taken into police custody for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
Additional Drug Seizures in Separate Operations
In a related but separate operation conducted in Titari village under the jurisdiction of Shribalaji police station, Nagaur police achieved another significant breakthrough on Saturday. Authorities seized 1.643 kilograms of processed opium with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 8.25 lakh.
The operation led to the arrest of another individual, Shivram Jat, who was allegedly in possession of the substantial narcotics cache. Police officials formally disclosed the details of this successful operation on Sunday, highlighting the coordinated nature of their anti-drug efforts across the district.
History-Sheeter Apprehended with Smack and Cash
In yet another case demonstrating the comprehensive scope of Nagaur's anti-narcotics campaign, police arrested Naresh Ram Jat with 86 grams of smack (heroin) valued at approximately Rs 10.70 lakh. During the arrest, authorities also confiscated Rs 2.15 lakh in cash from his possession.
Police records indicate that Naresh Ram Jat is a known history-sheeter with an extensive criminal background. Law enforcement officials confirmed that he has approximately 30 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations across the region, underscoring his established involvement in illicit activities.
Coordinated Anti-Drug Drive Shows Results
These consecutive successful operations represent tangible results from the anti-drug drive launched under the leadership of SP Roshan Meena. The coordinated efforts across multiple villages within Nagaur district demonstrate a systematic approach to combating narcotics cultivation, distribution, and possession.
The seizures of both raw opium plants and processed narcotics, along with the substantial cash confiscation, indicate police are targeting multiple facets of the drug trade simultaneously. These operations send a strong message about law enforcement's commitment to disrupting narcotics networks operating in rural Rajasthan.
