Nagpur Boy Found Hanging with Dog Chain

Nagpur: An 11-year-old boy was found hanging from his room's window grille with a dog's chain and buckle tied around his neck. A resident of a prominent locality near VNIT College, the Class 5 boy was declared dead at a nearby hospital. A day after the tragedy, police said they are still unsure whether it was an accident or the boy died by suicide.

Incident Details

According to police, the boy locked himself in his room when his mother, a banker, was at work and his father too was at the office. His sister and grandmother were watching television in the drawing room when the tragedy unfolded. Family members said he was playing with the dog's chain and buckle at the time.

The boy was an adventure enthusiast and tried scuba diving at a very young age, said sources. Police suspect he may have been imitating an adventure stunt or video game that went wrong. One end of the chain was tied to the window grill while the loop was around his neck.

Investigation Underway

When the family found him in that state, they rushed him to the hospital, but doctors found him unresponsive. The Rana Pratap Nagar police was immediately informed and cops led by senior inspector Pankaj Bhondse visited the spot, examined the scene, took measurements, and recorded statements of family members.

Investigations revealed no family dispute, fight, or any apparent reason for suicide. He was a good student, well-loved at home, and his parents fulfilled all his wishes, said police, who ruled out any link to online games like PUBG.

Case Registered

A case of accidental death was registered and multiple angles are being probed. The incident has left the family devastated and triggered shock and speculation in the neighbourhood.
