Nagpur Crime Branch Seizes 113g MD Powder Worth Rs 12 Lakh

The city police Crime Branch's Social Service branch (SSB) unit seized approximately 113 grams of MD powder valued at Rs 12 lakh from two smugglers after intercepting a private bus at Waifall toll naka on the Samruddhi Expressway on Wednesday. The operation was conducted under the directives of Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal's 'Operation Thunder' and under the guidance of DCP (Crime) Deepak Aggarwal.

Operation Details

A team from the SSB unit waited for 24 hours after receiving intelligence that the narcotics consignment was being transported from a supplier codenamed 'DISC' in Mumbai's eastern suburb of Kurla. The same team had intercepted 150 kg of Mumbai-bound cannabis a day earlier.

Accused Identified

The two accused have been identified as Sayyed Qureshi and Shakeel Khalid, who allegedly operate from Mominpura in central Nagpur. Shakeel has a criminal record. Police also seized mobile phones and other incriminating materials from their possession.

Legal Proceedings

The police are in the process of registering an offence at the Hingna police station. The action is part of the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking under 'Operation Thunder'.
