Nagpur Man Arrested for Stabbing Youth in Neck

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to murder a 22-year-old youth by stabbing him in the neck in Nagpur. According to police, the incident occurred on June 5 near Dalit Library in Imamwada. The accused, identified as Mayank Yadav, a resident of Rambagh near the railway tracks, first verbally abused the victim, Ritesh alias Dadu Wankhede, calling him a drunkard and demanding money. When Ritesh refused to comply, Yadav left the scene but later confronted Ritesh and his friend Shubham alias Bittu Masram, 17, near his house.

Details of the Attack

During the confrontation, Yadav allegedly abused the duo and stabbed Shubham on the hand. When Ritesh intervened to protect his friend, Yadav stabbed him on the neck. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police promptly launched an investigation and arrested Yadav under Sections 109 and 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Legal Proceedings

The accused was produced before a local court and remanded to police custody for further questioning. Authorities are investigating whether Yadav had prior criminal records or if the attack was premeditated. The police have also recorded statements from witnesses present at the scene.
