A shocking incident of brutal violence unfolded in Nagpur on Sunday evening, leaving a 25-year-old man with severe injuries after being attacked with a sickle. The attack stemmed from a seemingly minor parking-related dispute in the MIDC area.
Parking Request Turns Violent
The victim, identified as Neeraj Tiwari, a resident of Bhim Nagar, had gone for a walk with a friend. He returned to pick up his friend's parked car near a grocery store in the MIDC area around 6:10 pm. Upon arrival, he found two men standing near the vehicle.
When Neeraj politely requested them to move, the situation escalated rapidly. One of the men, Kalia Singh (32), who also hails from Bhim Nagar, allegedly began abusing Neeraj and even threatened to kill him. Without warning, Singh is accused of swinging a sickle at Neeraj multiple times.
A Brutal Assault with a Weapon
According to the complaint filed with the MIDC police, Neeraj managed to dodge the initial blows. However, he could not avoid all attacks and was struck on his head with the sharp weapon, causing serious wounds. The assailant, Kalia Singh, then fled the scene with his companion.
It has come to light during the preliminary investigation that the accused, Kalia Singh, has a prior criminal history, indicating a pattern of unlawful behavior. This detail adds a grave dimension to the already serious assault.
Police Action and Investigation
Based on the complaint, the MIDC police have registered a formal case. Given the nature of the attack and the use of a deadly weapon, authorities have invoked charges of attempted murder against Kalia Singh.
An investigation is currently underway to apprehend the accused and uncover the full sequence of events. Police are likely probing the background of the dispute and the accused's companion to determine if there were any pre-existing tensions.
This violent episode in a residential and industrial locality has raised concerns about public safety and the swift resolution of petty disputes turning dangerous. The community awaits further updates from the police as they work to deliver justice.
