Nagpur Accountant Defrauded of ₹13.65 Lakh in Elaborate Land Scam

A shocking case of financial fraud has emerged from Nagpur, where a 56-year-old accountant was duped of a substantial sum of ₹13.65 lakh in a deceptive land deal. The victim, Sunilsingh Prasad Gaur, filed a formal complaint of cheating at the Dhantoli police station, leading to the registration of a case against the accused, 44-year-old Milind Meshram.

Details of the Fraudulent Land Transaction

The incident traces back to 2014 when Gaur, working as an accountant, came across a newspaper advertisement placed by Imagination Info & Resort Limited. The advertisement promoted plots available for purchase in Sondapar, located in the Hingna area. Intrigued by the offer, Gaur decided to invest.

Over an extended period from 2014 to 2022, Gaur proceeded to acquire three separate plots from Meshram, culminating in a total payment of ₹13.65 lakh. All transactions were conducted via cheque payments, which Gaur believed secured his ownership.

Unraveling of the Scam and Legal Action

Despite receiving sale agreements for the plots, Gaur soon discovered alarming irregularities. The accused, Milind Meshram, failed to formally register the plots under Gaur's name as legally required. Further investigations revealed that Meshram had allegedly engaged in a practice known as multi-selling, where the same plots were sold to multiple buyers simultaneously.

When Gaur confronted Meshram and demanded a refund of his hard-earned money, the accused issued cheques to settle the debt. However, these cheques ultimately bounced, leaving Gaur without his funds and the plots he believed he owned.

The Dhantoli police have taken swift action by registering a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This case highlights the risks associated with real estate transactions and underscores the importance of due diligence. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar fraudulent activities in the future.
