Nagpur Newlywed Strangled by In-laws Over Dowry, Autopsy Reveals
Nagpur Newlywed Strangled by In-laws Over Dowry

NAGPUR: A 19-year-old newlywed woman from Nagpur was allegedly strangled to death by her in-laws last Friday, who initially claimed she died of a heart attack. The woman, a resident of Nagpur, had been subjected to dowry torture and sexual harassment by her brother-in-law, according to police reports.

The truth came to light after her body was exhumed on Sunday for an autopsy, which revealed clear compression marks on the neck and signs of asphyxia, indicating strangulation. The victim's parents had performed her last rites at a graveyard in Amravati city, where they resided.

Evidence and Arrests

Two audio recordings of the woman's desperate calls to her mother provided clinching evidence that led to the registration of a murder FIR. Her husband and brother-in-law were arrested late Tuesday, while her father-in-law remains at large.
