Nagpur Police Crack Down on Stolen Goods Racket with Midnight Raid
In a significant operation, the Pardi police in Nagpur successfully apprehended two individuals involved in the illegal transportation of stolen iron bars worth approximately Rs 12 lakh. The swift action was taken based on a crucial tip-off received during a routine midnight patrol, highlighting the vigilance of local law enforcement in combating property crimes.
Details of the Midnight Operation
Acting on the intelligence, police officers conducted a surprise raid at a godown located in Umiya Colony, Pardi. The raid unfolded in the late hours, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspects who were actively loading the stolen goods into a truck. The arrested individuals have been identified as Dilip Ramgopal Shahu, aged 40 and a resident of Binaki, and Salim Khan, aged 36, hailing from Kalmana.
During the operation, authorities discovered a substantial quantity of iron bars, weighing around 4,000 kilograms, which were being prepared for transport. Upon questioning, the accused were unable to provide any valid bills or documentation to prove the legitimacy of the consignment, thereby confirming the goods as stolen property. As a result, the police seized the entire load to prevent further illicit distribution.
Legal Proceedings and Case Registration
The case was formally registered at the Pardi police station following a complaint lodged by Mira Sawant. The accused have been charged under specific sections of the Indian Penal Code, namely IPC Sections 303(2) and 3(5), which pertain to theft and related offenses.
