Nagpur Police Commissionerate Initiates Major Recruitment Drive for Constable Positions
The Nagpur City Police Commissionerate is launching a significant recruitment campaign on Wednesday to fill 725 vacancies for police constables. This includes 595 positions within the Nagpur City Police establishment, with 180 of these specifically reserved for women, and an additional 130 posts in the Nagpur prison department, which includes 39 posts reserved for women.
Overwhelming Response from Applicants
The recruitment drive has attracted an enormous number of applicants, reflecting the high demand for these government positions. For the city police constable roles, a total of 36,222 applications were received. Meanwhile, the prison department roles saw an even larger response with 71,148 applications. Combined, this amounts to over 1.07 lakh applicants vying for the available positions.
Advanced Technology Ensures Fair and Transparent Process
Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal emphasized that the recruitment process is heavily reliant on advanced technology to guarantee transparency and fairness. He stated, "We are heavily involving advanced technology in the recruitment process with foolproof measures for transparency and fairness." The entire process is being supervised by CP Singal, along with Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy and DCP (Headquarters) Deepak Aggarwal.
DCP Aggarwal highlighted that this initiative marks a first-of-its-kind approach for Nagpur police, incorporating cutting-edge technology to eliminate malpractices and address past issues such as collusion by coached groups. "Randomisation software automatically assigns candidates to different groups, preventing friends, batchmates, or coaching centre clusters from being placed together during physical tests," explained Aggarwal.
Revolutionary Measurement and Timing Systems
The precision in measurements has been significantly enhanced through the use of laser technology in the shot put event. This ensures accurate distance recording, complementing traditional manual methods that were prone to errors. For sprint events, RFID (radio frequency identification) tags provide electronic, tamper-proof timing, further bolstering the integrity of the process.
Additionally, an end-to-end integration software offers candidates real-time updates on their application status, test progress, and personal details. This system enhances visibility and builds trust among applicants by keeping them informed throughout the recruitment journey.
Comprehensive Security and Monitoring Measures
Security at the recruitment venue is robust, with 110 CCTV cameras installed for continuous monitoring. The entire process is also being recorded by 30 videographers to ensure accountability and prevent any untoward incidents.
To maintain order and prevent unauthorized entry, around 500 personnel will be deployed. This includes:
- 5 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs)
- 9 Additional/Deputy Commissioners
- 21 Police Inspectors
- 50 Sub-Inspectors
- 300 Civil Staff
- 70 Ministerial Employees
Candidate Instructions and Warnings
Candidates are required to report daily at 5 AM at the Parade Ground, Police Headquarters. They must carry all required documents and a passport-size photograph. Authorities have issued strict instructions against malpractices such as cheating, submitting false certificates, or using stimulants. Additionally, candidates are barred from bringing mobile phones, electronic devices, or valuables to the venue.
Commissioner Singal issued strong warnings against any attempts of bribery or inducements by police personnel, coaching centres, or individuals. The physical efficiency tests and subsequent stages of the recruitment process are expected to continue until the end of April, as confirmed by an official.
