Nagpur: Passengers travelling between Nagpur and Pune this weekend will face inconvenience as Central Railway has cancelled the Nagpur-Pune Express and Pune-Nagpur Express due to a major engineering and signalling block planned in Pune Yard.
Infrastructure Upgrade at Pune Yard
According to Central Railway, Pune division will undertake critical infrastructure work involving the replacement of DDS Point No. 208/209 in the existing track layout at Pune Yard on the Pune-Daund section. To facilitate the work, a nine-hour traffic and power block will be imposed from 8am to 5pm on Sunday, June 14.
The block will affect train movements from the CSMT end on Platforms 3 and 4 at Pune railway station, necessitating the cancellation of several services.
Affected Trains
As part of the arrangements, Train No. 12136 Nagpur-Pune Express, scheduled to leave Nagpur on June 13, has been cancelled. Similarly, Train No. 12135 Pune-Nagpur Express, scheduled to depart from Pune on June 14, will also remain cancelled.
Impact on Passengers
Railway officials said the engineering and signalling work is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen railway infrastructure and improve the safety, reliability and operational efficiency of train services passing through Pune Yard, one of the busiest railway junctions in the region. The cancellation is likely to affect hundreds of passengers travelling between Vidarbha and western Maharashtra, particularly weekend travellers and those with onward connections.
Advice for Passengers
Central Railway has advised passengers to verify the latest status of their trains before commencing their journey and make alternate travel arrangements if required. The railway administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and sought the cooperation of passengers during the infrastructure upgrade work.
