A shocking case of road rage has resulted in the death of a 39-year-old pedestrian in Nagpur. The incident occurred in the Samata Nagar area under the jurisdiction of the Kapilnagar police station on April 2, 2024.

Details of the Fatal Confrontation

The victim, identified as Rajan Yadav, a local resident, was walking to work with two companions, Ayush Bansod and Kunal Kadbe. Between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, near a grocery shop, a truck approached from behind. According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle was being driven rashly and was honking continuously.

The truck struck Yadav, but he was quickly pulled to safety by a passerby named Gaurav Uike. An angry Yadav then confronted the truck driver over his reckless driving.

Violent Escalation Leads to Hammer Attack

The truck driver, identified as Pravin Bagde (30), a resident of Mhasala, reportedly became enraged during the confrontation. He allegedly got down from his vehicle and attacked Yadav with a hammer. People present at the scene intervened immediately and rushed the severely injured Yadav to Mayo Hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Rajan Yadav succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital, turning a road rage argument into a fatal tragedy.

Police Action and Legal Charges

The Kapilnagar police have taken swift action in response to this violent incident. They have registered a case of culpable homicide against the accused truck driver, Pravin Bagde. The charges have been filed under Sections 105 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police officials confirmed that the truck driver has been arrested and is currently in custody as the investigation into the full circumstances of the incident continues. This case highlights the severe consequences that can arise from road rage and aggressive driving behavior on Indian roads.
