Nagpur Village Sarpanch and Two Accomplices Face Attempted Murder Charges in Violent Bar Assault
In a shocking incident from Nagpur district, the rural police have formally charged Ravindra Chaudhary, the elected sarpanch of Khairgaon village, along with two other individuals, with the serious offense of attempt to murder. The charges stem from an alleged violent attack on a local resident using deadly weapons at a bar earlier this week, highlighting a severe breach of public trust and safety.
Complaint Details the Alleged Assault Stemming from Longstanding Dispute
According to the official complaint filed by Rajendra Wankhede, a 46-year-old resident of Narkhed taluka, at the Narkhed police station on March 27, the attack occurred on March 26. Wankhede alleges that Chaudhary, accompanied by Jitendra Wankhade (41) and Kartik Chaudhary (22), attempted to kill him due to an old and unresolved dispute between the parties. The use of deadly weapons during the assault at the bar has escalated the legal implications, leading to the stringent attempt to murder charges.
Police Action and Custody of the Accused
Following the filing of the complaint, law enforcement authorities acted swiftly, arresting all three accused individuals involved in the alleged bar attack. The police have since remanded Ravindra Chaudhary, Jitendra Wankhade, and Kartik Chaudhary into police custody as the investigation progresses. This move underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are treating the case, given the involvement of a village sarpanch and the potential threat to community harmony.
The incident has raised concerns about local governance and public safety in rural areas, with many residents expressing alarm over the alleged actions of an elected representative. Police officials have assured that a thorough probe is underway to uncover all facts and ensure justice is served, emphasizing that no one is above the law, regardless of their position or influence in the community.
