Nagpur Student Stabbed to Death by Minors Over Street Fight

A 20-year-old engineering student was brutally stabbed to death in Nagpur's upscale Dharampeth locality early Monday morning, allegedly by two minors over a petty street argument. The incident has sparked widespread fear and raised concerns about rising juvenile aggression.

Details of the Incident

The victim, Tushar Chute, a resident of Hudkeshwar, had reportedly sneaked out of his home after midnight to roam the city with two friends. Around 2:30 am, near Laxmibhuvan Square, the group got into a verbal altercation with two minors riding a moped. What began as a trivial roadside confrontation quickly escalated into deadly violence.

According to PSI Nandkishor Padkonde of Ambazari police station, the accused minors chased Tushar and his friends towards Coffee House Square, intercepting them in front of a popular cafe. The confrontation turned physical, with heated exchanges and scuffles. During the fight, one of the accused, a Class 12 student, allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Tushar in the back.

Victim's Desperate Attempt to Escape

Witnesses reported that despite bleeding profusely, Tushar tried to run down the street in a desperate bid to escape. However, he collapsed a short distance away due to excessive blood loss. Bystanders rushed him to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Shockingly, Tushar's two friends fled the scene during the assault, leaving him alone. They were later traced and questioned by police as part of the investigation.

Investigation and Arrests

Police teams from Ambazari police station immediately launched an investigation. By scanning CCTV footage from multiple locations in Dharampeth and using surveillance, they identified and detained the accused minors within hours. Both are residents of Jaripatka and reportedly have no prior criminal record. They have been sent to a juvenile home pending legal proceedings.

Rising Concern Over Teen Violence

Authorities noted that the ease with which a petty argument escalated into murder reflects a worrying trend of aggression and weapon use among teenagers. The incident has triggered widespread fear among residents and parents, especially since it occurred in one of Nagpur's busiest and most crowded late-night hangout zones.

The case underscores the urgent need for community awareness and stricter measures to curb juvenile delinquency and the proliferation of weapons among minors.
