Nagpur Teen Burglar Caught After Contacting Undercover Cop

Nagpur Teen Burglar Apprehended in Swift Police Sting Operation

In a dramatic turn of events, an 18-year-old burglar was captured within just 30 minutes after he unwittingly contacted a police officer posing as a drug dealer. The suspect, identified as Anshul alias Anup Wakade, had burgled a residence in the early hours of February 7 and was arrested shortly thereafter.

Undercover Operation Leads to Swift Arrest

Instead of supplying the requested mephedrone (MD), the undercover officer immediately alerted the Pachpaoli police station. Acting promptly on this crucial tip-off, a rapid-response team was dispatched and successfully apprehended the suspect. The police recovered stolen items including gold, silver, cash, and vehicles with a collective value of 4.80 lakh rupees.

Wakade, a resident of Lashkaribagh, has multiple cases of house-breaking and two-wheeler theft registered against him across various police stations in Nagpur. During interrogation, investigators revealed that his criminal activities were frequently linked to drug addiction, highlighting a troubling pattern of substance abuse driving illegal behavior.

Connection to Earlier Burglaries

Earlier that same morning, two back-to-back burglaries were reported at adjacent properties, with the total value of stolen items amounting to 3.22 lakh rupees. Following his latest break-in, Wakade contacted what he believed was a MD peddler to purchase drugs using the heist money, but this individual turned out to be working with law enforcement and promptly informed the authorities.

The arrest operation was supervised by senior inspector Baburao Raut, with the field team led by sub-inspectors Ranjit Majgaonkar and Dilip Pawar. During his interrogation, the accused cooperated with police by guiding them to the hidden loot, which included four stolen vehicles that were recovered during the operation.

Solving Multiple Crime Cases

This significant recovery helped solve four separate crime cases that were registered at different police stations across Nagpur:

  • Pachpaoli Police Station
  • Tehsil Police Station
  • Nandanvan Police Station
  • Wadi Police Station

The entire coordinated operation was conducted and supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madane, demonstrating effective police work and inter-station cooperation. This case underscores how drug addiction can fuel criminal behavior while showcasing law enforcement's ability to use innovative tactics to apprehend suspects quickly and recover stolen property.
