Nagpur Teens Steal 5 Vehicles Worth ₹3.3 Lakh for Joyrides

In a startling case from Nagpur, police have arrested three teenagers who were allegedly stealing two-wheelers for the dual purpose of making quick money and experiencing the thrill of joyrides. The trio, all of whom are Class 10 students, are accused of multiple thefts, leading to the recovery of five stolen vehicles valued at more than ₹3.3 lakh.

The Thrill of the Ride Leads to Crime

According to the Pachpaoli police, the minors were not targeting a specific brand or model. Instead, their motive was to experience riding different types of two-wheelers. Police sources further revealed that the group had a backup plan: if they failed to find buyers for the stolen scooters and motorcycles within Nagpur, they intended to sell them in the neighboring state of Madhya Pradesh.

How the Theft Ring Was Busted

The case first came to light on November 25 when 60-year-old Bhagwantsingh Naranjansingh, a resident of Teka Naka, filed a complaint. He reported that his new TVS Jupiter scooter (registration MH-49-CN-8116), purchased for ₹90,000, was stolen from outside his home. The Pachpaoli police station registered a case based on his complaint.

The breakthrough came when a police team, patrolling near a library in Lashkaribagh, spotted three minors behaving suspiciously with a scooter. Upon noticing the police, the boys attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended by the team led by Senior Inspector Baburao Raut. Their vague answers during initial questioning raised suspicions, and a quick verification confirmed that the scooter was the very one stolen from Bhagwantsingh.

Confession and Ongoing Investigation

During interrogation, the teenagers admitted to being repeat offenders. They confessed to their involvement in four other vehicle thefts under the jurisdictions of both the Pachpaoli and Jaripatka police stations. The police have now recovered a total of five stolen two-wheelers from them.

The minors were presented before the Juvenile Justice Board as per legal procedure. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any further details about their activities and potential connections. This incident has raised concerns about juvenile delinquency and the allure of quick gains among teenagers.
