A devastating road accident on Nagpur's Outer Ring Road resulted in the death of a woman and left three others with serious injuries on Saturday evening. The collision involved a Bolero SUV and a truck that fled the scene.
Details of the Tragic Collision
The incident occurred around 6:15 pm on Saturday near Prerna School. According to officials from the Hudkeshwar police station, the victims were travelling in a Bolero bearing registration number MH-49-AT-2223. The vehicle was being driven by Mayur Shandy.
The passengers included Anil Kumar Singh, 52, his wife Ruby Singh, 44, Gaurav Pandey, 50, and his wife Rashi, 42. The group was on its way to Umred to attend a programme. As per the preliminary investigation, Anil Singh requested the driver to take the service road. When the Bolero slowed down to execute a U-turn, an unidentified truck approaching from behind crashed into it at high speed.
Aftermath and Police Investigation
The rear-end collision caused severe damage to the Bolero, injuring all its occupants. Ruby Singh sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Tragically, doctors at GMCH declared her dead upon arrival.
The other three victims were also hospitalized. Gaurav Pandey and Rashi Pandey were reported to be seriously injured and are currently undergoing treatment. Anil Kumar Singh also received injuries in the crash.
The Hudkeshwar police have launched a search for the truck driver, who did not stop after the accident. A case has been registered against the unknown driver under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have stated that the investigation is actively underway to identify and apprehend the responsible party.
