Nanded Tragedy: 16-Year-Old Student Stabbed to Death by Juveniles Over Old Dispute
A horrifying incident unfolded in Nanded on Sunday afternoon, where a 16-year-old Class XI student was brutally stabbed to death by three juveniles. The attack, which police say stemmed from an old dispute, has sent shockwaves through the community of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Swift Police Action Leads to Detention
The deceased has been identified as Kamalpreet Singh, also known as Prince Khalsa, a resident of Dilipsingh Colony. The tragic event occurred near the Govardhan Ghat bridge around 4:30 PM. According to authorities, the Wazirabad police registered a murder case based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother.
Nanded Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar confirmed that swift police action led to the detention of the accused within hours of the crime. "The accused were identified quickly and apprehended while attempting to flee. All three are juveniles, and the investigation is being conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures under the Juvenile Justice Act," Kumar stated.
The suspects have been sent to a juvenile home as the investigation continues.
Background of the Fatal Altercation
Police investigations reveal that the fatal attack was the culmination of a grudge held over a previous altercation. Approximately 8 to 10 days prior to the incident, Kamalpreet had quarreled with a friend from his neighborhood. During this dispute, he allegedly assaulted the friend.
Although elders intervened at the time and the matter appeared resolved, the accused juveniles reportedly harbored resentment and plotted revenge. On Sunday afternoon, upon learning that Kamalpreet was near the Govardhan Ghat bridge, the trio allegedly rushed to the location and attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the abdomen.
Desperate Attempts to Save the Victim
The attack resulted in severe blood loss, causing Kamalpreet to collapse immediately. Passers-by and local residents, witnessing the gruesome scene, quickly rushed the injured teenager on a scooter to a private hospital in the Kautha area. Despite these desperate efforts to save his life, Kamalpreet succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following the stabbing, the three accused fled the scene in an attempt to evade capture. However, acting on specific intelligence inputs, the local crime branch successfully traced and detained them while they were trying to escape via the Narsi-Naigaon route.
Community and Legal Implications
This tragic incident highlights the severe consequences of unresolved conflicts among youth and raises critical questions about juvenile delinquency and violence. The case is now under thorough investigation, with authorities emphasizing adherence to the Juvenile Justice Act to ensure proper legal handling of the minors involved.
The community of Dilipsingh Colony and surrounding areas remains in mourning, as this senseless act of violence has cut short a young life and left a family devastated. Police officials have assured that all aspects of the case are being examined meticulously to bring justice to the victim's family.
