Nashik Industrialist Extorted of Rs 1.5 Lakh in Illegal Construction Scam
Nashik Industrialist Extorted of Rs 1.5 Lakh

The Ambad police station in Nashik has taken decisive action against an extortion racket, filing a formal case against four individuals for allegedly extorting Rs 1.5 lakh from a local industrialist. The crime unfolded on Friday when the industrialist approached authorities with a harrowing account of threats and financial demands.

The Extortion Scheme Unveiled

According to the detailed complaint filed with police, the main accused Santosh Sharma masterminded the extortion plot alongside three associates. The group allegedly conspired with certain government officials to register a case against the industrialist with the Satpur MIDC concerning illegal construction within his company premises.

The industrialist revealed that the accused subsequently demanded regular monthly payments to ensure his business could continue operations without interference. They also promised to withdraw the previously filed complaint in exchange for these payments, creating a classic protection racket scenario.

Escalating Threats and Harassment

The situation intensified dramatically when Sharma and his associates began employing more aggressive tactics. In what appears to be a calculated move to increase pressure, the group displayed posters on the compound wall of the industrialist's facility, publicly shaming and harassing him.

The harassment reached its peak recently when the suspects took the bold step of stopping the industrialist's car in the middle of the road. During this confrontation, they escalated their financial demands to Rs 6 lakh and ultimately forced the victim to part with Rs 1.5 lakh on the spot. The assailants didn't hesitate to issue death threats, warning they would eliminate him if he failed to comply with their monthly extortion demands.

Police Action and Accused Background

Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that Santosh Sharma is currently under arrest in connection with previous extortion cases registered against him at both Satpur and Ambad police stations. His history of similar offenses suggests a pattern of criminal behavior targeting business owners in the region.

The Ambad police have officially booked all four individuals involved in this latest incident. While Sharma remains in custody for prior cases, authorities are actively pursuing his three associates who participated in this elaborate extortion scheme targeting the Nashik industrialist.

This case highlights growing concerns about organized crime targeting business establishments in industrial areas of Nashik. Local authorities have assured the business community that they are taking strong measures to combat such extortion rackets and protect legitimate business operations from criminal elements.
