Nashik Restaurant Worker Arrested for Impregnating Minor Girl
In a disturbing case from Nashik, a man has been arrested by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Ahilyanagar police for allegedly luring a 17-year-old girl into a physical relationship and impregnating her. The accused, a worker at a local restaurant, resides in the same neighborhood as the victim and reportedly contacted her frequently under the guise of their so-called 'relationship'.
Complaint and FIR Registration
After the girl's family became aware of the situation, her grandmother filed a formal complaint at the Tofkhana police station. Consequently, an FIR was registered against the man under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, specifically for rape. This legal action underscores the severity of the allegations and the commitment to justice for minors.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Following the complaint, the accused went into hiding, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. PI Kiran Kabadi of the LCB assembled a dedicated team to track him down. On Saturday, the team successfully located the suspect in Ahilyanagar itself. Acting on PI Kabadi's instructions, they set a trap and apprehended him from his hiding spot, confirming his identity in the process.
Confession and Previous Record
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, admitting his involvement to the police. He has since been handed over to the Tofkhana police station for further investigation. Notably, this incident marks the second POCSO case registered against the same individual, highlighting a pattern of alleged predatory behavior. PI Kabadi emphasized that the arrest was conducted under the guidance of SP Somnath Gharge, reflecting coordinated efforts to combat such offences.
The case has sparked concerns in the community about child safety and the enforcement of laws designed to protect minors from sexual exploitation. Authorities continue to investigate the matter thoroughly to ensure accountability and prevent future incidents.
