Nashik Rural Police Gets 43 New Vehicles for Kumbh Mela & Vast Jurisdiction
Nashik Police Boost Fleet with 43 New Vehicles Ahead of Kumbh

In a significant boost to its mobility and operational capabilities, the Nashik Rural Police has taken delivery of a fleet of 43 new four-wheelers. The vehicles were procured using funds from the District Planning Committee (DPC) and are expected to play a crucial role in managing the vast and challenging jurisdiction of the police unit.

A Much-Needed Boost for a Vast Area

Senior police officials emphasized that the new vehicles will be extremely helpful in maintaining law and order across the expansive 15,000 square kilometres under the Nashik Rural police's jurisdiction. The area is not only large but also geographically complex, sharing borders with other districts and containing sensitive urban centres like Malegaon. The enhanced fleet will enable officers to respond more promptly to emergencies, including calls received through the dial 112 scheme, ensuring help reaches citizens in the minimum possible time.

Gearing Up for the Mega Kumbh Mela

A primary driver for this reinforcement is the upcoming Kumbh Mela, scheduled to begin next year. The region is expected to witness a massive influx of visitors and devotees, placing extraordinary demands on security and traffic management. The new vehicles will be vital for a range of duties, from general patrols and security to the specific task of escorting VIPs and VVIPs during the mega event. This proactive step aims to ensure the mela is conducted smoothly and safely.

Formal Handover and Future Promises

The official handover ceremony took place on Saturday at the Nashik Rural Police headquarters. The event was attended by key officials including District Collector Ayush Prasad, Inspector General (Special) of Nashik Range Dattatray Karale, and Nashik Rural Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil. While the police department had initially requested a total of 83 vehicles, they have been assured that the remaining 40 vehicles will be provided as soon as the necessary funds are sanctioned.

This infusion of resources marks a critical upgrade for the police force, enhancing its reach and responsiveness ahead of one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It underscores the administration's focus on strengthening ground-level policing infrastructure to better serve the public and manage large-scale events effectively.
