Nashik Police Intensify Manhunt for Eighth Suspect in IT Company Harassment Case
The Nashik city police are actively pursuing an eighth suspect, a woman, who remains at large in connection with multiple complaints filed by employees of a local IT company. The Deolali Camp and Mumbai Naka police stations have registered a total of nine complaints, with the latest developments revealing a complex case involving allegations of harassment and misconduct.
Multiple Arrests Made, One Suspect Evades Capture
According to police officials, six male employees and one female employee, identified as the Assistant General Manager of Human Resources, have already been arrested based on the complaints. However, the eighth female suspect continues to evade authorities despite intensive search efforts.
"We have formed two specialized teams that are diligently tracking her movements," revealed a police officer who requested anonymity. "The woman is currently avoiding arrest, but we are making significant progress and believe we are close to apprehending her."
Serious Allegations and Company Response
The case involves serious allegations including sexual exploitation and hurting religious sentiments of the complainants. The Nashik city police have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that will be seeking arrests in three additional related cases in the coming days.
In response to the developing situation, the IT company issued an official communication stating: "The company maintains a long-standing zero-tolerance policy toward harassment and coercion of any form. We have consistently ensured the highest standards of safety and wellbeing for our employees in the workplace."
The company further explained their immediate actions: "Upon learning about the matter in Nashik, we took swift and decisive action. All employees under investigation have been suspended pending a thorough inquiry. We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement authorities, and any additional measures will be determined based on the investigation's conclusions."
Office Relocation Rumors and Police Clarification
Amid the investigation, reports have surfaced suggesting the company might be closing its Nashik office and relocating employees to other branches. While the company has not officially addressed these rumors in their communications, police authorities have clarified their position on the matter.
"Our jurisdiction is strictly limited to investigation and legal proceedings," the police officer emphasized. "There is no justification from our side for sealing or closing the company premises. The company's operational decisions are internal matters, and we have no information regarding their future plans for the Nashik office."
Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact
The case has drawn significant attention in Nashik's business community, particularly among IT professionals and corporate entities. The police continue to follow leads and gather evidence while maintaining regular communication with the affected company's management.
As the investigation progresses, authorities remain focused on locating the remaining suspect and bringing all involved parties to justice. The establishment of the SIT demonstrates the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating this multi-faceted case involving workplace misconduct and potential criminal activities.
