The events took place at the Panvel taluka police station on Friday and at a college premises in Nerul on Saturday, marking a commendable effort in restoring justice to victims of crime.

Detailed Breakdown of Recovered Property

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Panvel division) Bhausaheb Dhole, the returned property was seized from various crimes registered at multiple police stations under the Panvel and CBD divisions. The comprehensive recovery included:

  • 23 four-wheelers with a total value of Rs 89 lakh
  • 42 mobile phones worth Rs 7.25 lakh
  • 580 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 59.55 lakh
  • 8 two-wheelers amounting to Rs 1.84 lakh

This property was specifically seized from First Information Reports (FIRs) registered at three police stations in the Panvel division between January and March of this year. The gold ornaments recovered were linked to serious incidents, including two chain snatchings by bike-riding robbers, one house break-in theft, and one cheating case.

Emotional Reunions and Victim Appreciation

The complainants expressed immense gratitude towards the police department for their prompt and effective action. Senior Inspector Gajanan Ghadge of Panvel taluka shared a touching account from one of the victims. "One woman complainant, whose gold chain was snatched by a pillion bike rider, had lost all hope of recovering her precious item. She became emotional upon its return, as the chain was a cherished gift from her maternal grandfather," he recounted, highlighting the personal impact of such recoveries.

Additional Recoveries from CBD Division

Assistant Commissioner of Police (CBD division) Mayur Bhujbal provided further details on property returned from his jurisdiction. The items were seized from 21 FIRs of theft and snatching registered at four police stations in the CBD division since January, in addition to 38 property missing complaints. The recovered property from this division included:

  • 274 grams of gold ornaments and 530 grams of silver
  • Copper cables, a laptop, 11 two-wheelers, and one auto rickshaw
  • 37 mobile phones

Collectively, these items were valued at Rs 68.85 lakh. Notably, apart from the FIRs, there were 37 complaints regarding lost mobile phones and one complaint about a gold chain lost at a bus stop in Nerul, all of which were addressed through these recovery efforts.

The returned property was seized from a wide network of police stations, demonstrating the extensive reach of this recovery operation. Under the Panvel division, crimes were registered at Panvel City, Panvel taluka, and Khandeshwar police stations. Meanwhile, the CBD division covered Nerul, CBD-Belapur, NRI Coastal, and Navi Mumbai Airport police stations.
