Navi Mumbai Police Crack Labourer Murder Case, Arrest Friend Within 12 Hours

In a swift and efficient operation, Navi Mumbai police have successfully detected the murder of a daily wage labourer and arrested the victim's friend within just 12 hours of filing the First Information Report (FIR). The brutal crime, which shocked the local community, was solved through meticulous police work and community cooperation.

Discovery of the Victim Under Panvel Bridge

On Tuesday morning, the body of the victim was discovered under the Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari bridge near Society Naka in Panvel. The scene was gruesome, with the victim's head smashed using a large stone. The location, often frequented by labourers, became the focal point of an intense investigation led by PSI Anant Parage.

Other labourers in the vicinity quickly identified the deceased as Vijay, whose full name remains unknown. These witnesses provided crucial information, revealing that Vijay and his friend Sitaram Yadav, a 39-year-old labourer, were known to consume liquor together under the same bridge. According to statements, a quarrel erupted between the two on Monday night, making Yadav the prime suspect as he was the last person seen with Vijay.

Challenges in the Investigation and Swift Arrest

Investigating officer PSI Anant Parage highlighted the difficulties faced during the investigation. Both Vijay and Yadav lacked Aadhaar cards and did not use mobile phones, making it challenging to trace Yadav's whereabouts. Despite these obstacles, the police team persevered, leveraging local intelligence and surveillance.

Their efforts paid off when they apprehended Yadav from Panvel around 9 pm, within 12 hours of registering the FIR. This rapid response underscores the dedication and efficiency of the Navi Mumbai police force in handling serious crimes.

Forensic Evidence and Legal Proceedings

From the crime scene, the forensic team collected critical evidence, including:

  • The blood-stained stone allegedly used by Yadav to smash Vijay's head and face.
  • A sample of soil mixed with blood, which will aid in corroborating the sequence of events.

On Wednesday, Yadav was produced before the Belapur court, which remanded him to police custody for seven days. This custody will allow investigators to conduct further interrogations and gather additional evidence to strengthen the case.

Separate Incident in Rabale MIDC Area

In a separate and unrelated case, Rabale MIDC police discovered a body dumped in an open space near a pump house along a nullah on the road leading to Gupta Weighbridge in Mahape MIDC area. This discovery occurred on Monday around 8:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Sandeep Vishwakarma, a 32-year-old resident of Trombay, Mumbai. Authorities are investigating this incident independently, with no current links to the Panvel murder case.

The swift resolution of the Panvel murder highlights the Navi Mumbai police's commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring that justice is served promptly in the face of violent crimes.
