A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed an accused in the NEET-UG paper leak case to appear for the re-examination, stating that his rights as a student cannot be defeated. Vacation Judge Vishal Gogne was hearing the interim bail plea of Yash Yadav, who sought permission to take the re-test after the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) on May 3.
Court's Decision
The court granted interim bail to Yadav, allowing him to appear for the re-examination scheduled by the NTA. The judge emphasized that the accused's right to education and fair opportunity cannot be compromised due to the pending investigation.
Background
The NEET-UG exam was cancelled after reports of a paper leak surfaced, affecting thousands of students. Yadav was arrested in connection with the leak, but his legal counsel argued that he should not be denied the chance to appear for the re-test as it is a fundamental right.
The NTA has announced fresh dates for the examination, and the court's order ensures that Yadav can participate. The case continues to be investigated by the authorities.
