Newborn's Naming Ceremony Amid Murder Allegations
In a dramatic turn of events in the chilling Meerut murder case, Muskan, the woman accused of killing her husband Saurabh Rajput and concealing his body in a cement-filled blue drum, has named her newborn daughter Radha. The birth occurred on November 24 at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, coinciding with what would have been Saurabh's birthday.
Family Demands DNA Verification
The newborn's arrival has intensified the legal battle, with Saurabh's family insisting on a DNA test to confirm the child's parentage. Rahul Rajput, Saurabh's brother, has reiterated his demand for genetic testing and announced plans to file a fresh plea in court. He extended this demand to include Muskan's elder daughter, stating the Rajput family would only accept responsibility for both children if DNA evidence proves they are Saurabh's biological offspring.
Renu Rajput, Saurabh's mother, has supported her son's position, emphasizing that the family would welcome the newborn only after parentage confirmation. Rahul expressed concerns about Muskan's character, describing her as "sharp-minded" and potentially posing a threat to the children.
Hospital and Jail Procedures
Medical authorities have dismissed suggestions that Muskan deliberately timed the delivery to coincide with her deceased husband's birthday. Dr. Shagun, head of the hospital's gynaecology department, explained that "the expected date of delivery is only an estimate, and very few women deliver on a specific predicted day." She confirmed the timing of labor was natural and couldn't have been planned.
Following delivery, Muskan was scheduled to be transferred back to district jail. Jail authorities confirmed that the infant can remain with her mother in the women's barrack until age six, receiving clothing, supplementary nutrition, and medical care from prison administration.
Background of the Crime
The case dates back to March 4, when Saurabh Rajput was allegedly murdered at the couple's Indiranagar home in Meerut. Police investigators claim Muskan and her lover, Sahil Shukla, drugged Saurabh before stabbing him to death. The perpetrators reportedly dismembered his body, placed the remains in a blue drum filled with cement, and fled to Himachal Pradesh.
Authorities believe Muskan had been planning the murder since November 2023, viewing Saurabh as an obstacle to her relationship with Shukla. In a revealing detail, jail officials disclosed that Muskan had chosen the name Krishna had her child been a boy.
