New Delhi: An investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the November 10, 2025 car bomb blast near Red Fort has uncovered startling details. The explosion claimed 11 lives and left several others injured. According to sources, the suicide bomber, identified as Umar Un Nabi, operated under the fake identity of Rahul Bhat to acquire chemicals and equipment for setting up a makeshift bomb-making laboratory.

Bomber's Operations in Faridabad

Operating from his flat near Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Umar utilized both online and offline resources to gather information. He sourced highly specific equipment, including a mixed metal oxide-coated titanium anode, from a trader based in Mumbai. The sources further revealed that Umar was in the process of procuring 10 additional anodes before the Jammu and Kashmir Police busted the module, prompting him to flee.

Electrolysis Method Used

Using electrolysis, Umar converted a common salt solution into explosive chlorates and perchlorates within his flat. Umar, who was driving the explosives-laden vehicle and died in the blast, had paid Rs 25,000 via PhonePe for the materials. The items were couriered to him, an investigator stated.
