Jaipur: Nine people were killed and seven others were injured in two separate road accidents that occurred in the Nagaur and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan on Monday.
First Accident in Nagaur
In the first incident, three members of a family, including a seven-year-old girl, lost their lives in a head-on collision between a van and a private bus near the Luni river crossing in the Jasnagar area of Nagaur district. According to police, the family was traveling from Jaitaran to Pushkar to take a holy dip in the Pushkar Sarovar on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya. Six other occupants of the van were injured in the crash, with three of them being referred to Jaipur in critical condition. The deceased have been identified as Jitendra (40), Sheela (35), and Mannu (7). Police stated that all nine occupants of the van were members of a family from Karauli district. Around 20 passengers traveling in the bus escaped unhurt.
Second Accident in Bikaner
In the second accident, six people, including four children, were killed, and a six-year-old girl sustained serious injuries when a dumper truck and a passenger car collided head-on on National Highway 11 in the Sridungargarh area of Bikaner district. Sridungargarh circle officer Niket Parik identified the deceased as Om Prakash (50), his wife Sorma Devi (45), and their three-year-old daughter Pramila. The other victims were Ronit (4), Yashvi (10), and Khushi (8). According to police, the victims, residents of Fatehabad in Haryana, were returning home after visiting Mukam, a revered pilgrimage site associated with the Bishnoi community. The injured child was referred to PBM Hospital in Bikaner for treatment.
Investigations Underway
Police in both districts have launched separate investigations into the two accidents to determine the causes and ascertain liability.
