Nine Minors and Two Men Apprehended in Twin Stabbing Cases at Delhi Park

In a shocking series of events, authorities in west Delhi have taken swift action following two violent stabbing incidents reported within hours of each other at the same Delhi Development Authority (DDA) park located in Moti Nagar. The police have apprehended nine minors and arrested two adult men in connection with these cases, which include one murder and one attempted murder that occurred on Monday.

First Incident: Fatal Stabbing Over Mobile Phone Dispute

The first case involved the tragic death of a 16-year-old boy, who was stabbed to death after an argument erupted over lending his mobile phone to make a call. According to police reports, the teenager was discovered with a severe stab wound on his upper back and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. CCTV footage from Gate No. 3 of the park and surrounding areas played a pivotal role in the investigation. An eyewitness was able to identify the suspects after reviewing the video clips, leading to a breakthrough in the case.

Darade Sharad Bhaskar, the deputy commissioner of police (West), stated that "acting on technical analysis and tip-offs, the main assailant — a 16-year-old boy — was traced and apprehended." Based on his confession, four other minors, aged between 16 and 17 years, were subsequently detained. During interrogation, all five individuals admitted to their involvement in the crime. The police have also recovered the knife used in the murder, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing legal proceedings.

Second Incident: Attempted Murder Following Shoulder-Brush Altercation

Later the same evening, a second stabbing incident was reported at the same DDA park, involving a 22-year-old man identified as Danish. He suffered a stab injury on the left upper back near his chest during a separate altercation. The fight reportedly began after the victim and the accused brushed past each other, resulting in their shoulders touching, which escalated into violence.

Police officials analysed additional CCTV footage from Rama Road and nearby areas to piece together the events. Based on this video evidence and an eyewitness account, four minors were apprehended, and two men — Divyanshu, a 20-year-old courier delivery worker, and Ritik, an 18-year-old student — were arrested. The main assailant in this attempted murder case is a 15-year-old boy, who allegedly inflicted the injury during a sudden quarrel. Authorities have seized the knife used in this offence as well, underscoring the seriousness of the incident.

Police Response and Community Impact

The rapid police response highlights the effectiveness of surveillance technology and community cooperation in solving such crimes. These incidents have raised concerns about juvenile delinquency and public safety in urban parks, prompting calls for increased vigilance and preventive measures. The DDA park in Moti Nagar, once a recreational space, has now become a focal point for law enforcement efforts to curb violence among youth.

As investigations continue, the police are working to ensure that all individuals involved face appropriate legal consequences. The recovery of weapons and confessions from the suspects are expected to strengthen the cases in court. Residents of the area have expressed alarm over the brazen nature of these attacks, urging authorities to implement stricter security protocols in public spaces to prevent future occurrences.
