Jharkhand Police Nab Nine Suspected PLFI Affiliates in Coordinated Gumla Operation
In a significant crackdown, Simdega police have successfully apprehended nine individuals suspected of having affiliations with the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI). The arrests were made during a meticulously planned raid conducted at various locations in the Gumla region.
Details of the Arrested Individuals and Operation
The accused have been identified as Justin Topno (31), Herman Topno (24), Karan Lohra (23), another Karan Lohra (22), Amit Kumar (41), Sidhant Kumar Chik Baraik (26), Dinesh Barwa (19), Mangal Topno (22), and Ashish Minj (29). Police reports indicate that these individuals hail from the districts of Simdega, Khunti, and Ranchi in Jharkhand.
The operation was launched in response to a criminal incident on the intervening night of January 25 and 26. During this event, unidentified perpetrators attempted to set fire to vehicles and machinery belonging to a private construction company. This company is currently engaged in a crucial road project connecting Lachragarh to Odga.
Police Investigation and Seizures
Following the arson attempt, a formal case was registered by the authorities. A specialized investigation team was promptly constituted under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Baiju Oraon to pursue the matter. Their efforts culminated in the recent arrests.
Simdega Superintendent of Police Shrikant S. Khotre provided further insights on Friday. He confirmed that among the nine arrested suspects, seven have a documented history of prior criminal activities. In addition to the arrests, the police team successfully seized ten mobile phones during the raid, which are expected to aid in the ongoing investigation.
This operation underscores the continued vigilance of Jharkhand police against activities linked to banned organizations and highlights their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
