Two Noida Software Engineers Arrested for Allegedly Harassing Woman from Moving SUV

In a disturbing incident that has sparked outrage, two software engineers were arrested by the Noida Police for allegedly harassing a woman from their moving SUV. The incident occurred on Saturday night in the Greater Noida West area, highlighting concerns over public safety and road behavior.

Details of the Harassment Incident

The family, consisting of a man, his wife, and their child, was driving towards Sector 18 when the trouble began near the Parthala roundabout. According to police reports, a red MG Hector SUV started following their vehicle closely. As the SUV drew level with the family's car, its occupants allegedly rolled down a window and began making obscene gestures and inappropriate signals directed at the man's wife, who was seated in the rear seat.

The accused reportedly tried to force the woman's attention by waving, shouting, and blowing kisses in her direction. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, the husband quickly recorded a video from inside his car to document the harassment. Soon after this recording, the SUV sped away from the scene, leaving the family shaken and distressed.

Police Investigation and Arrest

On Sunday, the husband took to social media platform X to share the video clip of the incident, tagging the UP Police and the Chief Minister while demanding strict action against the perpetrators. The vehicle registration number visible in the video became the crucial lead for investigators. Police subsequently registered a case against unknown persons and began scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to track the SUV's route.

A dedicated team from the Phase-3 police station traced the two accused to Sector 135 and arrested them on Sunday evening. The arrested individuals were identified as Amit Kumar from Azamgarh and Abhishek from Mainpuri. Both men live in a rented accommodation at JVS Society in Sector 135 and work as engineers at a Noida-based IT company.

The police seized the MG Hector SUV bearing registration number UP 75 AH 3565 as part of their investigation. During interrogation, the men admitted that they had consumed excessive alcohol at a party earlier that evening and were roaming the city when they harassed the family. Police officials confirmed that further legal proceedings are currently underway.

Additional Revelations and Context

According to police sources, the two accused showed officers a video in which they appeared to blow kisses not only at the woman but also towards the child in the car, adding another layer of concern to the incident. This case has brought attention to several important issues:

  • The role of social media in reporting crimes and seeking justice
  • The effectiveness of police response in tracking down offenders using digital evidence
  • Concerns about public safety on roads, particularly for women and families
