Tragic Scaffolding Collapse in Noida Claims Worker's Life, Injures Two
A devastating incident unfolded in Noida on Thursday night when an iron scaffolding collapsed at an under-construction seven-storey building in Sarfabad village, resulting in the death of one worker and injuries to two others. The accident has raised serious concerns about safety protocols at construction sites in the region.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to police reports, the workers were engaged in painting and scaffolding tasks around the third-floor level when a bolt on the iron scaffolding came loose. This failure caused a large section of the structure to collapse with a loud noise, leading to the tragic outcomes.
Mohit, a resident of Dharampur village in Hardoi district, was positioned on the upper portion of the scaffolding and suffered critical head injuries as the framework fell. He was declared brought dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
Two other workers, Jeetu and his father Babulal from Ganguliyapura village in Rajasthan's Dholpur district, were painting nearby when they were also struck by the collapsing scaffolding. They sustained injuries to their heads, arms, and legs but received primary treatment and were discharged on Friday, with authorities confirming they are out of danger.
Impact and Investigation
The collapse not only affected the workers but also caused damage to a neighbouring house when part of the scaffolding crashed onto its terrace. A video circulating on social media depicted the twisted structure on the terrace, scattered household items, and blood stains at the site, highlighting the severity of the accident.
Police officials stated that Mohit's body was sent for an autopsy and later handed over to his family. As of now, no formal complaint has been filed, and the exact reason for the bolt coming loose remains under investigation. Further action will depend on a complaint from the affected parties, according to a senior police official.
This incident underscores the urgent need for stricter safety measures and regular inspections at construction sites to prevent such tragedies in the future.
